What I’m Watching

There's never enough time to write in depth about every movie I see, so here's a quick list of some I've watched recently. Summaries are from the TCM Database.

I LOVED...

Laura (1944) - Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney. A detective investigating a murder falls in love with a dead woman's portrait -- only to find that she wasn't the woman who was murdered.

Where the Sidewalk Ends (1950) - Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney. A police detective's violent nature keeps him from being a good cop.

The Mating Season (1951) - Gene Tierney, John Lund, Thelma Ritter. A woman pretends to be a cleaning lady to get to know her son's high-society in-laws.

The Court Jester (1956) - Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns. A traveling actor is mistaken for a medieval rebel.

I LIKED...

Breakfast for Two (1937) - Barbara Stanwyck, Herbert Marshall. A Texas heiress competes with a gold digger for the love of a playboy.

The Other Love (1947) - Barbara Stanwyck, David Niven. A concert pianist dying of tuberculosis falls for her doctor.

Fitzwilly (1967) - Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Felton. When an aging philanthropist goes broke, her butler robs from the rich so she can give to the poor.

On the Riviera (1951) - Danny Kaye, Gene Tierney. A nightclub entertainer temporarily replaces a tycoon he's famous for impersonating.

Knock on Wood (1954) - Danny Kaye, Mai Zetterling. A lovelorn ventriloquist gets inadvertently involved in the nefarious plans of a spy ring.

Black Widow (1954) - Van Heflin, Gene Tierney, Ginger Rogers. A young stage hopeful is murdered and suspicion falls on her mentor, a Broadway producer.
